Alewife, Eel & Lamprey Ecology Talk

Midcoast conservancy will be here for an evening with Nate Gray, a scientist with the Maine Department of Marine Resources within the Sea Run Fisheries and Habitat group. He has been working on the Kennebec River Basin since 1992 and works actively on river herring restoration projects as well as other diadromous species. He witnessed the removal of Edwards Dam in Augusta, Maine in 1999 and has seen the populations of river herring rise from a hundred thousand to over five million with the installation of multiple fish passages, dam removals and the opening of thousands of acres of historical habitat in the Kennebec drainage
